From drawing and painting to Lino printing and ceramics, I use repeating motifs to express my love of pattern. I work in a range of mediums to explore my main inspiration of trees and nature. My work is bold and contemporary, and also draws from illustrations of yesteryear. I like to describe my work as dream landscapes, and images for stories that have no words.
Being in nature and making art about nature is a huge part of who I am, inspired by the smallest garden to the biggest forest. Raised in a small village in Leicestershire, I was encouraged to be creative, and enjoyed art from an early age, inspired by the beautiful countryside of the county.
I studied art for five years, and received a B.A Hons Degree in 1995. I have been exhibiting and selling my work through galleries, shops and at craft fairs since then. Walking in woodland, in the countryside or at the coast with family and friends, is where I get most of my inspiration, but also through reading nature writing, poetry and looking at art and design. I am also inspired by folk tales and traditions of the British Isles, and further afield. My work describes the changing seasons and passing of time, celebrating nature through symbolism and dreamlike imagery
